While it appears that things have been easy for Kate Middleton's transition to the royal family, a report revealed that it wasn’t the case at all. Commentator Carole Malone shared that the Duchess of Cambridge received a cruel nickname after not being proposed to by Prince William for a long time.
Kate Middleton and Prince William dated on and off for seven years. The couple started their romance in 2003, and it was only in 2010 when the Duke of Cambridge finally popped the question. For years, the gorgeous brunette had been dubbed as “Waity Katie.”

However, British political activist Femi Oluwole argued that Meghan Markle had the worst treatment. "I defend Meghan a lot of the time because I do believe a lot of the attacks against her are not exactly moral, race-based. See the treatment of Kate versus Meghan, that was all well-documented,” he said.
Carole Malone noted that Kate Middleton had a “terrible time” before she married Prince William in 2011. Femi Oluwole, then, pointed out that the Duchess of Cambridge was treated badly before her marriage with the future King, but Meghan Markle is still receiving a lot of hate even after she tied the knot with Prince Harry.
Carole Malone explained that the reason why Meghan Markle is being heavily criticized is that she didn’t try to work within the institution, but she tried to change it to suit her. This is something that the public did not appreciate, and that’s when things started to go downhill for the Duchess of Sussex.
Unlike Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton tried to blend in with the institution and respected the rules.
