Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have served as the conclusion for the Skywalker Saga but some fans were not exactly satisfied with how the movie turned out. A few people pointed out that that Episode 9 felt rushed and left out important elements of the storyline, which made the film seem too cramped without addressing certain plot holes. But is it possible that there is a version of The Rise of Skywalker out there that may answer all the questions people have had about the movie. It has been revealed that a George Lucas cut of the Star Wars film exists but is being held back by Disney and Lucasfilm.

There is little doubt that there were great expectations when it came to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. After all, it was set to be the final film in the Skywalker Saga and should be able to wrap up the story that spans over nine movies. However, director J.J. Abrams has revealed that the theatrical cut doesn't actually represent his true vision for Star Wars Episode 9. Interestingly, the filmmaker stated that there were numerous scenes that were deleted from the final version that resulted in several plot holes in the film.

There have been speculations that a J.J. Abrams cut of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker exists and may eventually be released as a director's cut. However, it is hardly the only version of Episode 9 that is believed to be out there in the Disney vault. According to Movieweb, there is also a George Lucas cut of The Rise of Skywalker that may have featured more unexpected scenes. In fact, the Star Wars creator reportedly shot a scene where Anakin Skywalker's Force ghost has a conversation with Daisy Ridley's Rey and tells her that Emperor Palpatine is still alive.

This could have been an amazing sequence considering that fans were hoping that Anakin Skywalker will show up in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. So is there any chance that fans will actually get to see the George Lucas cut of Episode 9? Interestingly, there is one thing that is believed to be blocking the release of the Lucas Cut. The report also started that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is refusing to release the version as it could mean she would lose her job in taking control of Disney's Star Wars projects.

For now, it is unclear whether the George Lucas cut of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actually exists and if it will ever be released. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
