Though a lot of negative things are going on this pandemic, there are some blessings given in disguise. One of these is time.

Before the pandemic, people tend to be so busy with a lot of things. This in the end causes them to allot lesser time to be with their loved ones, to embrace new skills, and even to learn more of what they were passionate about. But, with the isolation and quarantine most local governments around the world are currently implementing, people now have more time, which they can use for more important things, like gardening.

Gardening is very beneficial especially in times like this. Experts say, being in one with nature through gardening can relieve stress and soothe the emotions from deep within, as revealed by Ellison Chair.

Unfortunately, not all people have been given a green thumb. So, if ever you experience difficulty in caring, nurturing, and keeping a plant alive, never feel bad towards it. Here are some tips that could help you improve your new skill.

USE YOUR FINGER TO KNOW IF YOUR PLANT NEEDS WATER

People would think it is hard to determine whenever a plant is sad and is badly needing water; but, know it is not. You can even use your tiny little finger for it.

To know if your plant needs water, just stick about an inch of your finger to your plant's soil. A couple of seconds after, remove it.

If your finger is left with a lot of dirt, then, do not water. Your plant is still hydrated enough. If not, then, water it.

DO NOT MIST YOUR PLANT WITH WATER ON THE LEAVES

Some would advise misting their indoor plants' leaves once it becomes dry. But, did you know that it is not the best thing to do?

Indoor plants are more prone to fungus than outdoor plants as these kinds of plants receive lesser ventilation than the latter. The more your plants' leaves get wet, the more your plant is prone to die. So, it is best to focus on the roots more when watering your plants.

DO NOT OVERWATER YOUR PLANTS

Over-watering your plants are more dangerous than under-watering it. Plants that were overly watered tend to suffer a lack of oxygen. This, in return, affects the roots and the vigor of the plant, as reported by Missouri Botanical Garden. So, plant experts advise making sure to never overdo watering your plants specifically those that require less to survive, such as cactus and succulents.
