Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, did not wear a wedding tiara when she got married to Prince Charles 15 years ago. Instead of a headpiece jewelry, she chose a cream  fascinator (hat) to match her simple wedding dress.

According to Hello, there are likely two reasons why Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was not extended the privilege of borrowing a tiara from Queen Elizabeth or even permitted to wear one of her own. Her marriage to Prince Charles was her second, as she was previously married to Andrew Parker-Bowles.

During her first wedding in 1973, Camilla actually wore a tiara owned by her grandmother, Baroness Sonia Rosemary Cubitt. The Duchess of Cornwall's daughter from her first marriage, Laura Parker-Bowles, wore that same heirloom piece when she got married to Harry Lopes in 2006.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, might have also ditched the tiara for her wedding to Prince Charles because they did not get married at the church. The royal couple opted for a less formal civil ceremony and a short marriage blessing.

Queen Elizabeth, a religious woman and the head of the Church of England, did not attend the civil ceremony of Prince Charles and Camilla. However, she was part of the marriage blessing at St. George's Chapel in Windsor.

According to reports, the Queen felt that it was her duty to the Church to skip her heir's civil ceremony. However, after the ceremonies, Her Majesty hosted a wedding reception for her son and new daughter-in-law to officially welcome her in the family.

It is no secret that Camilla was seen as the third person in Prince Charles' marriage to Princess Diana, his first wife. Thus, her inclusion in the royal family had a rocky start.

Despite this, Camilla's relationship with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, as well as the rest of the royals, improved over the years. The monarch has given the Duchess of Cornwall more roles and duties as the wife of her heir, or the future King of England.

But, when that time comes, Camilla will not be known as the Queen Consort, as per tradition. In March, Clarence House issued a statement that the Duchess of Cornwall will be known as the Princess Consort once Prince Charles assumes the throne as king.

This was, apparently, the original arrangement the day Prince Charles and Camilla got married. Rumors, however, stated that the Prince of Wales has been pushing to change this arrangement, prompting Clarence House to issue a clarification.
