Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may, reportedly, switch their Sussex Royal Instagram account to their new Archewell Foundation to make use of their million of followers. A celebrity brand strategist revealed the couple is in the position to turn their now-defunct account into good use.
Phil Pallen from Philpallen.co told Femail that Prince Harry and Meghan could be planning a smart PR move. He said they could transfer their 11 million followers to their new charity endeavors when they officially launch their new charitable organization.
The expert explained the social media fanbase is the "digital equivalent of waterfront real estate." Hence, they may turn Sussex Royal to Archewell when the latter is ready for its big reveal.
After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family, they can now boldly speak about social issues, politics, and other important topics for them. Pallen said their Instagram account is their "platform and tool" that let them communicate with their followers with "conviction."
If they still have the power to use the said page, Pallen believed they would turn it to be Archewell. Although Prince Harry and Meghan cannot use the Sussex Royal account to its full potential for now, it remains to be a symbol of legacy. It is their powerful tool to convey important messages to their loyal followers.
Pallen continued that the Sussex Royal account gives the devout audience exclusive access to the Royal Family's journey. When they transfer or dispose of the account, it will possibly cut ties with "loyal fans."
Prince Harry and Meghan's Sussex Royal Instagram account used to have 11.3 million followers at its peak. However, after they stepped down as senior royals, it decreased 400,000 followers, leaving it with only 10.9 million.
The couple bid their final goodbye on Instagram by publishing their last post on March 30, when they officially stepped back from their royal roles. They thanked the community that they had created on the page, revealing they would continuously work behind the scenes with their new foundation, Archewell, Express noted.
They, too, promised to continue helping with the COVID-19 pandemic. Although fans would not see them actively posting on Instagram, they assured that their work continues.
Prince Harry and Meghan then thanked the community for its continuous support, inspiration, and shared commitment. They, too, said that they were looking forward to reconnecting with everyone soon, ending their note with commending their followers for being great.
