There are only a few details about Batwoman season 2, but it has been previously confirmed that God Friended Me alum Javicia Leslie will be taking over the lead role once the series returns on The CW. This news comes shortly after Ruby Rose announced she is not coming back as Kate Kane in the new season.

Now that the identity of the new lead has been revealed, there were questions as to whether or not Leslie's Ryan Wilder will wear a new suit in Batwoman season 2. Since Rose's Kate Kane's suit is iconic in the first season, there might be an interest in having the new character wearing something similar.

According to CarterMatt, this move allows The CW to keep the logo the same so that there would have a sense of continuity. However, doing this also means taking away the individuality of the new Batwoman and it could lead to comparing Kate Kane and Ryan Wilder.

Perhaps, Leslie's character could wear something that will differentiate Rose and Leslie's version of Batwoman. It allows Ryan Wilder to shine as the new version of the titular character. CarterMatt also noted that the new suit could be a mixture of the old and the new one.

It's also nice to see the new character having some elements to pay tribute to the first without entirely copying the old one. The people of Gotham would also recognize that someone new is in the mask. It gives Ryan Wilder a chance to become a superhero that is representative of herself in Batwoman season 2.

Meanwhile, there are only a few details about Leslie's character but Ryan Wilder is described as likable, goofy, messy, untamed, and entirely different from Kate Kane. She grew up alone and spent her years as a drug-runner, masking her pain in doing bad habits.

In addition, Ryan Wilder lives with her plants in her van, stealing milk from an alley cat, and could kill someone using her bare hands. She is said to be highly skilled and wildly disciplined; considered as the most dangerous type of fighter.

After the news of casting Leslie in Batwoman season 2, Rose reacted to this and shared her thoughts about the decision. In her Instagram post, the actress said she's glad a Black woman would be taking over the lead role. She congratulated Leslie and said she'll be working alongside amazing cast and crew.

As for the release date of Batwoman season 2, nothing is officially confirmed right now. Reportedly, filming may start later this year leading to a 2021 release schedule. But then, everything still depends on the current health crisis. Everyone could go back to work when the situation gets a little bit better.
