Alexandre Lacazette has seen his name in transfer rumors, although Arsenal F.C. coach Mikel Arteta has hinted of wanting the French player around. It has been a tough season for the 29-year-old player who had to deal with an ankle injury. That forced him into the sidelines, but the French forward is working his way back to competitive shape.

In all, Lacazette has made 48 goals across 125 appearances for Arsenal. However, only 12 of those come from the current season. The ankle injury has slowed him down, something that led to Eddie Nketiah taking over his slot. The 21-year-old player returned to Emirates Stadium in January following a loan spell to Leeds.

Though things appeared to get tougher, Lacazette is not about to slide out of place. He has been showing improvement in the last couple of games, including the one against Liverpool. Lacazette played a key role in the 2-1 win over The Reds.

"Certainly, it is not nice to be on the bench," Lacazette said to Canal Plus.

Aside from that, Lacazette set the records straight on his relationship with Nketiah. Contrary to what some may think, all is going smoothly between the two Arsenal teammates. He shared that both of them are supporting each other.

"Between me and him, things are very good, there are no problems. We support each other. We know that everyone wants to play and it is the coach who makes the decisions, but between me and him there are no problems," Lacazette bared.

Lacazette also gave his take on the campaign of the Gunners this season. He believes they lacked the confidence to perform as a team, not to mention failing to show the vigor during crucial moments.

Arsenal will finish outside the top six for the first time in 25 years after dropping their match against Aston Villa last Tuesday. The only thing the Gunners can look forward to right now is the FA Cup.

"We lacked on confidence as a team, because each time we were lacking, whether it was a player at the back of a player up top, who affected the team to the slightest extent," Lacazette explained.

Despite a woeful season, Lacazette has not fallen short of interest from other clubs. Teams like Atletico Madrid, Napoli, and Inter Milan have been linked to the French player. However, there have been no known discussions going on for now. Also, Arteta mentioned that he sees no reason to let Lacazette go. He considers him a vital part of the club, and it appears that will stick for now.
