Meghan Markle reportedly cried when her mother, Doria Ragland, became the target of the paparazzi. The Duchess of Sussex was apparently heartbroken when the tabloid press published unflattering photos of her mom as they followed Doria to the laundromat.

In the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote that Doria "was under constant siege." The tabloid press reportedly wanted to paint a narrative that Meghan's mother was living a rough life in Los Angeles.

This encroaching on her mother's privacy allegedly left Meghan in tears and Prince Harry in such a combative mode against the press because he feared he would lose the woman he loves. While Meghan suffered in private over her mother's situation, Prince Harry decided to issue a rare statement to warn the press not to cross the line.

That statement, which came out in November 2016, also became Prince Harry's public confirmation that he has been dating a Hollywood actress. He and Meghan were seeing each other for nearly four months before the press finally got wind of their romance.

Four years later, reports said that Doria has moved into the home of Prince Harry and Meghan in Los Angeles. The duchess' mother is helping the Sussex pair take care of their son, Archie Harrison.

According to Us Weekly, Doria enjoys doting on her grandson by reading to him every morning. She and Meghan have also been making all-organic food for the toddler.

A source said that Prince Harry sees Doria as an "absolute tower of strength." The former yoga trainer and social worker is one of the few people whom Prince Harry apparently turns to for advice.

Prince Harry reportedly respects Doria for her judgement and calm demeanor. The source said that Doria made it clear to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that she will be behind them in whatever they decide to do.

Doria and Prince Harry are also said to be on the same page when it comes to making Meghan happy. This is why the Duke of Sussex's relationship with his mother-in-law is strong and close

Through it all, Doria has kept a low profile and never spoke with the press about her daughter or her royal husband hence Prince Harry trusts her. In contrast, Thomas Markle, Meghan's father and Doria's ex-husband, has been selling his stories and commentaries on Prince Harry and Meghan to the tabloid press.
