CBS All Access has finally revealed the official release date of Star Trek: Discovery season 3. The series has been off-air for more than a year. So, many we're excited to see what's next for the characters. An action-packed new trailer was, also, released and offered insights to some of the looming threats.

Star Trek: Discovery season 3 is coming on Thursday, October 15, on CBS All Access. The series will follow this pattern, with new episodes dropping every Thursday. For U.K.-based viewers, the new installment may premiere the following day, Oct. 16, on Netflix.

The release date announcement comes about 18 months since the second season concluded. The series encountered several setbacks, with the global health crisis causing further delays and slowed down the post-production process.

Meanwhile, the first trailer of Star Trek: Discovery season 3 was unveiled during the New York Comic-Con in October 2019. The clip teased the alternate versions of Michael Burnham and a universe wherein the Federation is an all-but-forgotten relic.

And during recent Comic-Con@Home, CBS released a short 15-second clip while announcing the official release date of the latest installment. The teaser shows Burnham planting a flag on a desolate planet, making fans even more exciting what's next to her and the others.

In the previous season, the Discovery crew battled against evil AI Control and they were sent into a wormhole over 900 years into the future to stop Control. As the trailer suggests, they landed into a completely new environment where the intergalactic power of the Federation and Starfleet faded.

This is a new setting for all of them and new conflicts could put the heroes in trouble. There is a whole new universe to explore, which means some of the crew have to deal with a whole new set of problems. All they have now is each other as their families are 950 years in the past.

It's interesting to see what would be the consequences of the choices they made. Although they all love and respect each other, that doesn't mean there won't be emotional consequences along the way. This is something that will further be explored in Star Trek: Discovery season 3.

As for who's coming back, Sonequa Martin-Green will reprise her role as Michael Burnham. Other returning cast include Wilson Cruz as Hugh Culber, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, and Doug Jones as Saru.

Michelle Yeoh's Captain/Emperor Georgiou is also set to appear as a guest star, while David Ajala is the newest addition in Star Trek: Discovery season 3. He will be playing Cleveland "Book" Booker, a man living in the future where the crew unexpectedly landed.
