A new and unannounced PS5 feature has been recently shared online but not by PlayStation. Over the past months, game developers and Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan have been teasing that there are still lots of PS5 features that are not yet announced. It looks like this brand new feature recently discovered is one of these.

New Unannounced PS5 Feature

The latest information about the recently discovered PS5 feature comes from the European outlet Gameractor. The outlet earlier previewed the racing game "WRC 9," which is set to launch on the current-generation and next-generation gaming consoles. The presentation, which presumably was done remotely, the PS5's Activities function was demonstrated.

Based on the outlet, the function is described as an instant deeplink to particular races straight from the menu of the PS5. Gameractor already removed its preview of "WRC 9," but it looks like Gematsu was able to capture and shared the important part on the social microblogging site Twitter. But, what is this feature all about?

PS5 Activities Feature

It appears that Sony's next-generation gaming console PS5 features a dedicated function to allow players to get into a particular part of the game directly. The feature is allegedly called Activities and thanks to the media preview leak, fans now have the idea what this is about. In other words, Activities is a way where gamers could jump into a specific content without the need to boot the game to the menu.

Earlier, a game developer noted that the PS5 is capable of allowing users to play a specific part of the game even if it is not yet fully downloaded or installed. While this could be a different feature, it seems like the idea is similar. The Activities feature of the PS5 for instance could allow "Call of Duty" players to go directly to the Search and destroy match or in a certain chapter of the game.

While Sony Interactive Entertainment has not yet revealed or confirmed the Activities feature of the PS5, its purpose seemingly aligns with what Sony's Lead Architect Mark Cerny shared the company would like to achieve. In his previous interviews, Cerny has repeatedly said that Sony is striving to cut the amount of waiting time players have to suffer through.

It is worth mentioning that this information is unconfirmed and unofficial. In this case, take this with a pinch of salt. Sony is rumored to hold another State of Play in August for the upcoming PS5 titles. The company has not yet announced the next-gen console's specific release date and maintains the holiday 2020 release window.
