A fresh set of actual PS5 hardware images recently surfaced online ahead of the console's imminent release. While Sony Interactive Entertainment earlier launched its next-gen gaming console, it failed to reveal its specific release date and all its features. The latest images revealed one PS5 feature that the industry is unaware of.

Leaked PS5 Console Images

Twitter user Wario64 earlier shared several images of the PS5 gaming console. The tipster noted on his tweet that these images show the 'shell' or faceplates of Sony's upcoming gaming system. For easier comparison, the tipster included the official image of the PS5.

Upon closer examination of the leaked PS5 faceplates, it looks like these hardware components are easily removed and replaced. The shells are seemingly attached in the entire system but not with the usual screws. Noticeable hooks or pegs hint that it could be easily detached from the body.

Granting that these alleged images are authentic, it opens the possibility that Sony might have a plan of selling PS5 faceplates for customization or personalization purpose, perhaps. The Japanese company could offer faceplates in various colors and could be a good money-making move. Another reason for these easily removed shells is for cooling. It appears that Sony purposefully designed the console this way so that the user could easily detach the faceplates in case of overheating.

PS5 Console Size

Aside from the detachable shell, the latest set of PS5 images also shows the actual size of the upcoming console. In one of the photos, a piece of paper was placed on top of the console. If the paper is the standard 8 1/4 x 11 3/4 inch, then it is safe to say that it aligns with previous claims of measuring 14 to 15 inches long.

Sony has not yet revealed the specific release date of the PS5 and still sticks to the holiday 2020 release window. However, it has already announced that the next-gen console would be available in tow variants, the PS5 Digital Edition and since users could only download digital titles using the PlayStation Network. Only the standard model could use the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc that allows gamers to purchase titles that are not in the PSN library.

There are a lot of features about the PS5 that fans are yet to discover. With the release window of Sony's console fast approaching, its only a matter of time that the industry would learn about these features. Meanwhile, Sony is anticipated to hold another event in August.
