General Hospital is going to experience a little shakeup after Lindsay Hartley has to temporarily replace Kelly Monaco for a little while. The 44-year-old star has to take a rest after experiencing a "breathing problem" on set.

In response to Daytime Confidential's report, Hartley confirmed she would indeed replace Monaco and play her role as Sam McCall Morgan in the longrunning soap opera. The 42-year-old star is no stranger to this kind of show after being part of Passions, Days of Our Lives and All My Children.

In a tweet, Hartley acknowledged that replacing Monaco in the series was "some big shoes to fill." However, she also finds it a precious thing to do.

Justin Hartley's former wife hoped everyone enjoyed watching Sam as much as she had enjoyed playing the role for the time being. She, then, gave everyone a glimpse of her work on set by sharing her photo while wearing a face mask, calling it "Covid set life," pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, talking about Monaco's condition, her mom, Carmina Monaco, revealed she would be back on the set of General Hospital on Monday, E! News noted. She assured her daughter is, now, doing great after going through 14 days of quarantine following her breathing problem due to wearing a face mask "first day back."

Monaco had three negative Covid test results, assuring that she doesn't have coronavirus. Now, the 44-year-old actress is "better than great." Carmina also thanked everyone for their love for her child.

General Hospital is just one of the too many shows that are affected by the coronavirus outbreak. However, its production has resumed last month, and new episodes would also begin airing on Monday.

According to Newsweek, the show ran out of new episodes to air due to the lengthy hiatus brought by the coronavirus lockdown. Hence, ABC has to release some of the classic episodes.

Although the show had enough episodes to last through May after the production shut down in March, it had been airing reruns as a result of the lack of new content. Fortunately, even though everything is yet to return to normal, they are now back into filming.

Monaco has played the role of Sam of General Hospital since 2003. Seventeen years into playing the role, Hartley has nothing but good admiration for her now that she has to take Monaco's part until her return, Daily Mail noted. The show airs every weekday on ABC.
