Harry Kane seems to be doing well at Tottenham, although both Kane's and the club's outlooks on this may differ. Kane continues to perform well despite his struggles due to injury. Some may see as a reason the Hotspur are falling short. However, it takes more than one player to help a club achieve success.

At some point, the 27-year-old striker may evaluate his options. Without question, winning trophies is at the top of his mind. Paired with the right pay, staying at Tottenham is a dream that any football player would want. But what if the club is struggling to reach that goal? In the opinion of former Tottenham player Jermaine Jenas, Kane may need to be selfish at some point.

Jenas pointed out two players whose paths Kane may follow. They are Gareth Bale of Real Madrid and Alan Shearer. Bale made the decision to move to Madrid to move to pursue more trophies with Los Blancos. The likes of him and Kyle Walker made that bold move, and Kane may eventually reach that point if nothing develops during his tenure with the Spurs.

“I do feel like it is a similar situation [to Bale]. I love Harry, he’s one of the best strikers in Europe, but I also look at his career,” Jenas said to the Daily Mail.

In the case of Shearer, it is a different story. When he returned to Newcastle United, it was more of fulfilling a dream. Though he failed to win any hardware, Shearer played his heart out and endeared himself to the Magpies. The 49-year-old ended his career on a high note and is one of the recognized legends at St. James Park. In the eyes of Jenas, this could be a script that awaits Kane if he follows this route.

“I speak to Alan Shearer a lot about the decisions he made in his career and he stands by them and has no regrets, he loves the fact that he played for his boyhood team and what he did for Newcastle and there’s a lot to be respected for that and Harry has a lot of that in him also," Jenas said.

Right now, that may not be at the top of Kane's mind. He is still young and likely giving Tottenham a chance to show what it has planned. For Jenas, Kane may have to consider being selfish at some point and think about his future, especially if Tottenham ends up moving in the wrong direction.

“I personally would encourage Harry to start having a little look and considering another move simply from a selfish point of view as a player," Jenas said.
