Camping out is not just an amazing way to recharge after a stressful week. Being in one with nature can also improve overall health, improve sleep and mood, and could help make the body more active.

This activity is very beneficial these days where the pandemic is literally pouring its wrath to everyone in the world. But, amid the coronavirus pandemic, is it safe for someone to go out, camp out, and breathe fresh air?

IS CAMPING OUT SAFE THIS PANDEMIC?

Among the activities that can be done to take off the stress nowadays, experts said camping is considered one of the leisure activities that is safest to do this pandemic, as reported by CNN TravelPublic health specialists in Michigan, recently, assessed 36 activities, ranking them from the highest to lowest risk.

Camping out received a very low rate, a relatively low assessment of 3. Meanwhile, in comparison to other activities, playing tennis got 1 and going to amusement parks and gyms got 8.

REASONS WHY CAMPING IS SAFE AMID THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

Dr. Matthew Sims, director of infectious disease research at Beaumont Health in Michigan, shared different reasons why camping is an amazing activity to do this pandemic. According to Sims, the outdoors is what really makes camping favorable.

Recent studies claim that enclosed areas are more at risk of being infected with the coronavirus than outdoor spaces. In enclosed areas, the coronavirus could stay for a while. On the other hand, the virus could disperse more easily to thin air in outdoor spaces, as shared by RVC Outdoor Destinations.

WHAT ARE THE THINGS YOU SHOULD REMEMBER WHEN CAMPING OUT?

Though camping out is still best to do even this pandemic, experts still emphasized the need to practice precautions while camping to keep oneself and your family safe from this pandemic. Sims, also, stated several things that campers and their group should put in mind.

Instead of traveling in groups, now is the time to keep your company small and limited only to those who you live with. The bigger the group, the higher the risks, as explained Sims. You, also, wouldn't want to mingle with other people nowadays, as it would only increase the risk of getting exposed to those who are infected with the coronavirus.

Sharing food to other people is also not a good idea these days. A buffet-style meal could only increase the possibility of contamination of the food to the coronavirus. So, refrain from eating from other people's plates and also sharing your food with others.
