Fans of Ellen DeGeneres may still have two years of watching her on television before her gig is up. A tabloid has claimed that the TV host intends to leave her show in 2022 when her contract expires.

New Idea published a story this week claiming DeGeneres plans to finish her contract before she finally bids goodbye to The Ellen Degeneres Show. The tabloid cited an insider who spoke with the celebrity gossip podcast Straight Shuter and claimed that Ellen has no intention of resigning at the moment.

The Emmy-winning host apparently plans to finish her contract, which is up for renewal in 2022. The insider claimed that after she lost millions of viewers, DeGeneres realized that it's the right decision to leave the show but only after her contract expires.

There is a possibility that Ellen could leave the show this year because of the mounting scandals that she and her show are facing at the moment. However, that will still depend on the result of the internal investigation that is being conducted by WarnerMedia and NBC.

The media company has announced an internal investigation over allegations of racism, unjust treatment, and an overall toxic workplace at The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The future of the show will depend on the result of the investigation. This means that if the investigators find the allegations to be true and decide to cancel the show, Ellen won't have a choice on finishing her contract.

At the moment, NBC has the show on hiatus, but executive producer Andy Lassner said the show hasn't been canceled.

Ellen DeGeneres has been the center of controversy since the coronavirus lockdown started in March. It all started when comedian Kevin T. Porter launched a Twitter thread urging anyone who met or had an encounter with Ellen to share their stories about the Finding Dory star. Claims about Ellen's rude behavior toward her staff and guests despite her friendly manner on her show started to flood the thread.

Then the show's crew expressed dismay about how their bosses were treating them during the coronavirus pandemic. DeGeneres was also called out on social media after she compared self-isolating in her L.A. mansion to being in prison. The latest in the series of accusations were from the former and current staff of the show alleging they have experienced a "toxic workplace" at Ellen's show.

DeGeneres issued an apology to her employees, saying she was unaware of the toxic work environment. In her statement, she also vowed to correct the issues and committed to ensuring that it will never happen again. This suggests that Ellen DeGeneres intends to continue working on the show and possibly until 2022.
