Floyd Mayweather Jr. remains retired though a return to the ring has been repeatedly teased. So far, nothing is set in stone but UFC president Dana White appears to be working on something. If White can come up with a fight that makes sense and reels in big money, the chances of the undefeated boxer taking the ring once more should be high.

In a report from TMZ, the UFC top brass revealed that he continues to hold dialogues with Mayweather and that anything can happen. However, one fight off the table is a rematch with Conor McGregor. White stressed that The Notorious is retired and he is not even considering the Irishman for now.

"No no no. I know he would rematch Conor McGregor but I don't know if you heard about this but Conor McGregor's retired," White said. "When I'm doing things right now and running business, I don't even think about Conor. Conor is retired. As of right here now today, Conor is retired until Conor tells me differently, I'm not trying to make any fights for Conor."

Some fight plans by Mayweather came to a pause when personal tragedies occurred. That included the passing of his uncle, Roger Mayweather. Aside from that, his former girlfriend Josie Harris passed away. Both died in a span of a week and the American boxer is believed to be not thinking of a fight right now.

Though both are collaborating, there is no hint as to who Mayweather could face. Further, there was no mention if it would be a boxing match or a mixed-martial-arts clash. Some UFC fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov expressed willingness to face the Flamboyant One but nothing has progressed.

The last time Mayweather took the ring was that New Year's Eve fight against Tenshin Nasukawa. The American practically toyed with the Japanese MMA star in what most branded as a money-making scheme. Since then, most suggestions have been all talk and nothing has prospered.

As far as official boxing, Manny Pacquiao remains the most lucrative fight to make. Mayweather recently took a dig at the Filipino boxer, pointing out how Pacquiao needs to fight because he needs to raise money. On his end, he boasted he did not have to do that since he has money and will fight only if he wants to, Boxingscene reported.

"My faculties and everything that I got come first. We just talked about, your health is your wealth. And that's why I got this towel on, I was working out today. Now, Pacquiao fights because he has to. Once again, I fight if I want to. So there's a difference," Mayweather said in an interview with rapper Fat Joe.
