Brad Pitt is one of Hollywood's most-loved A-listers. He has been in the spotlight since the late 1980s. Fans feel they know a lot about him. But here are some fun facts you might not be aware of.

One Who Helped Pitt

Pitt had $325 only in his pocket when he arrived in Los Angeles. He had nowhere to live. But singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge let him crash on her couch.

She helped him audition for Robert Redford's 1992 movie "A River Runs Through It" by teaching him how to fly fish. On a radio show she revealed Jennifer Aniston's former husband came to her house to use her swimming pool and that's where he learned how to fish.

Banned In China

He may be one of the most famous Hollywood stars - but not in China. According to The News, after the release of his 1997 drama "Seven Years in Tibet" he was banned in China.

Pitt played Austrian mountain climber Heinrich Harrer who befriended the Dalai Lama at the time of China's takeover of Tibet. Soon after the movie's release China banned everything involving Pitt.

However, this changed in 2016 after the release of "Allied," which was partially financed by the China company Huahua Media.

Pitt's Love Of Architecture

Pitt doesn't only appreciate architecture: he loves it. He even had an informal apprenticeship at architect Frank Gehry's office in Los Angeles.

Gehry renovated Pitt and Aniston's wine cellar at their former home. Since then Pitt has developed an appreciation for art.

Pitt's Nude Photos

Playgirl magazine obtained nude photos of Pitt in 1997 and released them in its August issue. Pitt appeared on the cover. How did the magazine get the photos?

In 1995, a photographer gained access to the hotel where Pitt was staying with his then-girlfriend, Gwyneth Paltrow, and took the snaps. The father-of-six sued the magazine and won a restraining order and the recall of the magazine's issue in which he featured.

Backing Out Of 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'

Before we saw Pitt as John Smith in the movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" he initially backed out from the film because Nicole Kidman was originally set to play Angelina Jolie's role. In Arnon Milchan's 2011 book "Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Hollywood Tycoon" he reveals Pitt felt he had no chemistry with Kidman.

He returned to the project when Jolie signed on to play Jane Smith. The rest is history.
