Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to wear a new shirt next season became the subject of speculations following Juventus' exit from the Champions League last week. The Portuguese superstar has admitted that missing the UCL finals this term was a disappointment, and his opening up led to suggestions he'll make the switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

Joining the French side is nothing new for the striker as he was reported toying with the idea last summer. Truth be told, playing for Parc des Princes has been a scenario following Ronaldo since his Real Madrid days.

According to ESPN, the Parisians have been wanting to acquire the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and the closest they got to a transfer deal was in 2014. No agreement was sealed back then but a big opening appeared to be on the table now with reports indicating that Ronaldo himself is contemplating an exit from Turin this summer.

However, the same ESPN report claimed that leaving Italy for Paris is not an immediate option for the 35-year-old. His priority is to see through a deal that will run until 2022 and win more titles with the Italian giants.

Ronaldo's sight is set on winning his third Scudetto with Juventus. But on top of his list is to capture his sixth Champions League title, a feat that will again secure a place for him in the record books. If the Portuguese will pocket a UCL win donning the Juve jersey, he would join the league of elite players who have won the trophy in three different clubs.

It is believed that as far as Ronaldo is concerned, the goals in his last playing years have been set and he intends to achieve them before thinking of joining a new team again.

As for PSG, the prospect of having Ronaldo on the roster is certainly tempting as the superstar would be a boost to the club's already vaunted scoring line led by Neymar and Mbappe. Yet according to Marca, the prevailing environment is not conducive to pursue a blockbuster deal such as bringing the Juventus superstar to the French capital.

The prime concern for the Parisians is the financial limitations that were created by the COVID-19 pandemic. For all football clubs, excess cash is not readily available nowadays and the French giants are in the same boat. So spending will need to be prioritized and for PSG that would be making sure that the current core roster will remain intact.

On that end, PSG's chief concern is to extend the existing contracts of Neymar and Mbappe, whose deals will be expiring in 2022. Instead of making a move on Ronaldo, the club is focused on convincing the two superstars to keep their games on the French side.

Neymar has been the subject of transfer rumors that suggested he will soon return to Barcelona while Mbappe is a signing target of elite European clubs such as Real Madrid and Liverpool.
