Ruby Rose is not coming back as Kate Kane once Batwoman season 2 premieres on The CW. Shortly after the season 1 finale, the actress announced she is leaving the series after portraying the titular character for just one season.

Many were shocked when Rose announced that she won't be reprising her role in Batwoman season 2. Her character is at the forefront of the series and she is the most significant part of the story. But, it looks like there are several reasons as to why she decided to leave the show.

The series is known to have a lot of action-packed scenes with difficult stunts. Reportedly, Rose suffered an injury while working on set and it took her about 10 days to recover. The incident impacted the actress's decision to depart from the show.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rose revealed that she started working again shortly after recovering from the injury. She had her surgery and returned to work after 10 days, in which she said it "wasn't the best idea."

Rose didn't discover the full extent of her injury until the shooting starts for the film The Doorman. But, the actress also noted that her injury wasn't the only reason for her exit and why she let go of her titular role in Batwoman season 2.

She explained that decision is not all about the injury, especially since they didn't wrap up the real finale due to the global health crisis. But, during the quarantine, she's got plenty of time to think about different things, including what she wants to do and achieve in life.

Rose noted it's a great opportunity to have a dialogue about a lot of different things. She respects the producers, and they respect her, as well. Despite her decision to leave the series, the actress is honored that Batwoman is played by an LGBTQ+ in live-action for the first time.

Meanwhile, Rose shared her thoughts about the arrival of Javica Leslie's character, Ryan Wilder, the next titular superhero in Batwoman season 2. She thinks that Leslie knows what she's doing and she seems fantastic. The actress felt proud and happy when she found out who would be replacing her.

Even though she is not part of the show anymore, Rose said she'll watch and support the next installment and see how it all comes together. Yet, she and the viewers need to wait for a while as the series is not returning anytime soon.

Batwoman season 2 is, reportedly, slated to premiere at some point in 2021 on The CW.
