The Boys season 2 is set to arrive next month on Amazon Prime. The series has been sharing updates about what to expect, making viewers even more excited with its arrival. Now, it has been revealed that Shawn Ashmore is playing Lamplighter in the upcoming installment.
Recently, TVLine reported that Ashmore will be joining the rest of the characters in The Boys season 2 and he'll be playing the role of Lamplighter. The character is a former superstar member of the Seven before his mysterious departure, which led to the arrival of Starlight.
Apart from his connection with the superheroes, Lamplighter has a tragic history with the Boys, as well. He is the reason why the group broke up eight years ago. So, when he shows up and enters their lives again, some painful memories poke at their raw nerves and changes everything.
Speaking to the aforementioned outlet, showrunner Eric Kripke said they're thrilled to have Ashmore on board and they're excited to see him playing the role of Lamplighter in The Boys season 2. He added that the actor brings "depth, menace, and world-weary humanity" to the former member of the Seven.
But, aside from Ashmore, the upcoming installment will also introduce a new member of the Seven. It has been revealed that Aya Cash will be joining the series as Stormfront. Her arrival comes following the ultimate demise of Translucent in the previous season.
Stormfront is described as an extremely tech-savvy person and understands how social media and technology works. She knows how to use these things to get whatever she wants. Also, her actions could irritate most members of the Seven.
In fact, in the clip where the Stormfront was introduced, she ambushed the superheroes on her Instagram Live. She was seen clashing with Homelander (Anthony Starr), the leader of the Seven, over her joining the team. A potential conflict between them is coming moving forward.
According to Cash, her character and Homelander will form an interesting relationship. There's a lot of tension and combativeness between them in The Boys season 2, but Stormfront will end up earning his respect as the story progresses.
The Boys season 2 will be dropping its first three episodes on Friday, Sept. 4, on Amazon Prime. Then, the series will roll out new episodes every week, with the "epic season finale" set to air on Oct. 9. Also, there's no need to worry about the future of the show since it has been renewed for season 3.
