The construction of Tesla's Gigafactory Texas in Austin is reportedly progressing at an astonishing pace that the project is being touted as concrete evidence that "the speed of Elon" can be achieved. The term refers to massive undertakings that move at record speed, which precisely what Tesla wants for the latest Gigafactory development.

The company's recruitment activities in Travis County are serving as proof of how quickly the Gigafactory project is moving. For the construction of the Giga Texas alone, Tesla is looking to fill up 39 available positions that promise above-average pay when compared to the area's salary level.

Teslarati said the speed of Elon principle is in full swing for the Giga Texas project, which is envisioned to start production activities in the second half of 2021. Needless to say, the speed of Elon is directly attributed to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is known to push for the immediate start of gigantic tasks to wrap up the soonest.

The Giga Texas is projected to create employment in the region and per Tesla's estimates, the factory will generate around 5,000 jobs when fully operational. The company's push in Austin is seen as a game-changer as Giga Texas will be paying a minimum annual wage of $35,000 that would benefit even unskilled labor.

The report added that the speed of Elon is also evident in the construction of the Giga Berlin in Germany and Giga Shanghai in China, meaning these Tesla factories outside of the United States are shaping with considerable progress.

So these indicators point to the likelihood that Giga Texas will start churning out Tesla electric vehicles next year.

To achieve the speed wanted by Musk, it appeared that Tesla is using a new playbook for the Gigafactory construction. The Giga Texas, for instance, will see Tesla's in-house collaborating with local contractors, a move seen for the factory to come online with the least possible delays, according to Electrek.

Jerome Guillen, the company's head of automotive has confirmed that the project is now underway, and yes the speed of Elon is in full use on the site.

"Giga Texas is happening, full speed ... Lots of job openings," Guillen was reported as saying.

In effect, the company executive is saying that part of the ramp-up mode for the project is the mass hiring of people for immediate completion, thus following the speed of Elon.

The Giga Texas is said to be the site where the Tesla Cybertruck and Tesla Semi will first roll out from. The Model Y and Model 3 will be produced from the factory as well and Musk has scheduled for all these to happen in the closing months of 2021.
