A lot of viewers are waiting for the official release date of Fargo season 4, especially since the series has been off-air for more than two years. Now, the long wait is over as FX finally revealed the premiere of the comedy-crime drama anthology.

FX confirmed that Fargo season 4 is coming on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 10 PM Eastern Time and it will consist of a total of 11 episodes. Then, the series will be available the following day on Hulu. Originally, the series was set to premiere on Apr. 19, 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each season of the anthology series has its own self-contain narrative, following different characters in various settings, though they're in a connected shared universe. The show has been a beloved franchise on FX and many were delighted to see it coming back in the small-screen.

Since the series follows different stories, the characters every season as new, as well. In Fargo season 4, the main cast is Chis Rock and he'll be playing the role of Loy Cannon. In August 2018, it has been confirmed that the actor would lead the cast of the latest installment.

In addition to Rock, the new season stars Tommaso Ragno, Jason Schwartzman, Rodney Jones, Jameson Braccioforte, Glynn Turman, Andrew Bird, Ben Whishaw, Gaetano Bruno, Anji White, Francesco Acquaroli, and Sean Fortunato.

The cast, also, includes Emyri Crutchfield, Corey Hendrix, Salvatore Esposito, Matthew Elam as, Jeremie Harris, Timothy Olyphant, Jeremie Harris, Karen Aldridge, Jack Huston, Amber Midthunde, as well as Kelsey Asbille.

As for the plot, Fargo season 4 is set in 1950 in Kansas City and it follows two criminal syndicates fighting for a piece of an American dream. Both of them control an alternate economy of exploitation, graft, and drugs. However, things get complicated between them as the story progresses.

Loy Cannon (Rock), who leads the African-American crime family, decided to trade his son, Satchel (Jones), to his Italian mafia enemy, Donatello Fadda (Ragno), in order to cement their truce. In return, Donatello surrenders his youngest son, Zero (Braccioforte), to Loy.

But, the truce is threatened when Donatello dies at the hospital after routine surgery. Josto Fadda (Schwartzman) took over his father's position but his efforts to stabilize their organization have been undermined because of his brother, Gaetano Fadda (Esposito).

Now, the other Fadda men -- Antoon Dumini (Fortunato), Ebal Violante (Acquaroli), and Constant Calamita (Bruno) -- need to decide where their loyalties lie. In addition, Rabbi Milligan (Whishaw), who betrayed his family, needs to do whatever he can to ensure his survival.

Meanwhile, Fargo season 4 started production in October 2019, but FX suspended filming in March 2020 due to the global health crisis. The series was able to complete eight of the eleven episodes before the shutdown. Reportedly, production will resume this August.
