Tyronn Lue presently works as an assistant to Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers but a change of role is possibly on the cards for the former Cavaliers tactician real soon. Lue is said to be "a leading candidate," next season with several openings expected as NBA teams prepare for the upcoming campaign.

At least four NBA teams are seen to see their head coaches heading to the exit door and it appeared that Lue is among the first to be considered. Being hot on the list is hardly surprising as Lue boasts of a solid credential - he is a former NBA champion, courtesy of a stint with the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers.

And Lue is tipped to take on the same role as early as the next NBA season, according to Sports Illustrated.

"Lue is expected to be a leading candidate for what could be several NBA coaching openings," the report said.

These job vacancies will be seen in Philadelphia, Houston, Oklahoma, and Brooklyn, where the head coach positions are either available or set to be vacated soon. If any of these are on the hunt for a replacement that will deliver to high expectations, then Lue indeed is in pole position to get the top job.

It is believed that if an offer will be sent to his door, Lue would prefer to get it from the Nets. That's because the job proposal will reunite with him Kyrie Irving. The two collaborated before in Cleveland and their efforts paid off with an NBA ring.

Brooklyn too will welcome the return of Kevin Durant next season so Lue is set to lead a team that has a great chance of winning the NBA title in 2021, which should explain the keen interest on his part to head to the east for his next big gig.

If the Nets job prospect will not pan out, there are still wide options out there for Lue. The same report indicated that the Rockets, Sixers, and OKC are likely to look for a fresh start with a new coach due to subpar performance in the Orlando bubble games. So Lue has to the on the radar of these organizations.

Lue on top consideration indicated that he is a hot item on the market, according to NBC Sports. One thing that is strong about the Clippers assistant is his natural ability to connect with players and more so with team superstars, which should be a strong prompt for teams to make the hire decision.

Also, Lue is known to be a good offensive strategist and has a record of waging long playoff campaign, qualities that should ensure he will get the top job in any of the teams mentioned.
