Stargirl season 2 is moving to The CW once it premieres sometime next year. While it aired on the network during its freshman run, it was originally created as a DC Universe series. Now that the show is permanently moved into its new home, could we see some changes in the story?
One of the biggest concerns here is whether or not Stargirl season 2 will have a smaller budget and reduce some scenes. We've seen a lot of action-packed scenes in the first season, making the production a bit expensive. Aside from that, another concern is whether the filming location will be changed.
The first season is filmed in Atlanta, but since the series is moved to The CW, the second installment could choose Vancouver as the new filming location. After all, this is the Arrowverse's home base so the series could join other CW shows here.
But then, it looks like there won't be too much change even though Stargirl season 2 found a new home. Despite the concern, showrunner Geoff Johns confirmed that the upcoming installment will stay in Atlanta even if it is a CW exclusive now.
In a report from TVLine, he made it clear that filming location remains the same. An while he didn't directly address the financial concerns, the showrunner noted that startup costs are the most expensive. A lot of things are needed to be considered -- including building and testing.
Johns, who also serves as the executive producer, said that they wouldn't do season 2 if they think they couldn't make is as good as the first season. This time, they're going to explore different stories, thematics, and avenues for the characters.
Meanwhile, we could see two new Big Bad in Stargirl season 2. Eclipso, in particular, might be the biggest adversary after what happened in season 1 finale. This character, who can control and possess others, has been encased in a Heart of Darkness.
Cindy (Meg DeLacy) found him trapped within the diamond, and this could to lead more threats in the new season. Eclipso could take over her body and gain her power as Shiv, making her the most dangerous villain. But, it's also possible Cindy will use him and have someone else possessed.
Another Big Bad coming in Stargirl season 2 is Shade. He has been briefly hinted in the story, and he could be a huge part of the series moving forward. His mysterious force makes him a big threat for Courtney (Brec Bassinger) and the rest of the JSA.
