Princess Anne is, now, an honorary general of the Royal Army and an air chief marshall of the Royal Air Force. She has been promoted to these roles as she celebrated her 70th birthday last Aug. 15.

The Princess Royal's new ranks are, apparently, in line with her Royal Navy rank as the admiral and chief commandant. Buckingham Palace also released three new photos of Princess Anne to mark her platinum jubilee.

Senior members of the royal family traditionally receive honorary promotions for their milestone birthdays. However, Prince Andrew deferred his promotion when he turned 60 years old last February as he has retired from his royal duties in November.

Amid the coronavirus restrictions, Princess Anne marked her 70th year with a low-key manner. The Princess Royal originally planned to be with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, her children -- Zara and Peter, and her grandchildren in Balmoral but Scotland imposed a travel ban on her birthday week amid another COVID-19 outbreak.

Mike Tindall, Princess Anne's son-in-law, confirmed that they had to cancel the royal family gathering as they couldn't travel to the Highlands any longer. The former pro-football player said it's such a shame because the monarch's only daughter deserved to celebrate her 70 amazing years as the hardest working member of The Firm.

Among Princess Anne's many other accomplishments include a Nobel Prize nomination when she was 39 years old for her work with Save The Children. Until today, Princess Anne is still a patron and the president of the charity.

The royal clocks in over 500 royal engagements year after year and she is involved with over 300 organizations. She sometimes beats her older brother, Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, in the number of engagements she completes yearly.

In the documentary Princess Anne at 70, the royal remarked that she thought she had slowed down with work in the last few years. However, her daughter suggested that her mother will never stop working just like Queen Elizabeth.

Princess Anne is, also, the very first royal Olympian who won a medal in equestrian in 1976. Zara followed in her footsteps and, also, won a medal in the 2012 Olympics. Incidentally, Zara was supposed to compete again in the Tokyo Olympics this year but the event was moved to next year due to the pandemic.

When she's not doing her charity work, Princess Anne spends a lot of time with her horses or tending to her farm in Gatcombe Park. She said this is where she's most comfortable and content.
