Lovecraft Country episode 2 is coming this weekend on HBO, "Whitey's on the Moon." The series will continue to build-up and deliver more interesting stories as it progresses. What's unique about this freshman show is that it combines American history and sci-fi drama.
Lovecraft Country episode 2 picks up the events that happened in the premiere. Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) is doing his best to move forward, but a lot of terrifying circumstances surround him. Since the series has just started, we could see his story continue to unfold.
The series premieres with Atticus on a bus to Chicago. He and a Black woman are sitting in the back, while the white fellows sit in the front. When the bus suddenly breaks down, the whites were transported to the next stop but Atticus and the woman have to walk.
Later on, it was revealed that he is a military vet, who likes sci-fi novels and he's searching for his missing father. Eventually, Atticus arrived at the apartment where his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance), Aunt Hippolyta, (Aunjanue Ellis) and cousin Diana (Jada Harris) live.
George isn't worried that Montrose, his brother and Atticus' father, has been missing for two weeks. However, Atticus is worried after receiving a cryptic letter, noting that the "past is a living thing." Also, the message revealed his father was able to track down Atticus' deceased mom's lineage.
In addition, Montrose seemed to reference "Arkham" in the letter, but George pointed out it was "Ardham." Eventually, the two embarked on a road trip, where they met Letitia Lewis (Jurnee Smollett) along the way. The three of them encountered terrifying events while on their journey.
In the synopsis of Lovecraft Country episode 2, Leti and George luxuriate in their new surroundings after recovering from a terrifying night. Atticus, on the other hand, is suspicious of the Ardham Lodge hosts who reveal cryptic plans for the role of Atticus in the upcoming "Sons of Adam" ceremony.
Meanwhile, it's quite challenging to predict the future of the series since it's considered a freshman show. But, HBO has been promoting the series hard, so there's a huge change the network would want to continue it moving forward.
The ratings remain to be one of the factors in the show's future, and if it could get close to the ratings of another freshman series Perry Mason, the executive may give it another season. But, for now, viewers need to wait and see what else the sci-fi drama brings.
Lovecraft Country episode 2 airs on Sunday, Aug. 23, on HBO.
