Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have relocated to Balmoral Castle earlier this month. They flew to the Scottish property for their annual summer break.

In normal circumstances, the British Monarch returns to Buckingham Palace come October. This year, however, the royal couple will return to Windsor Castle, a royal source told the Sunday Times.

The Queen will, reportedly, stay in her Berkshire property for the rest of the year. Reports believe that her absence from Buckingham Palace will become the "longest" in her almost seven decades of reign.

The royal insider asserted that there is still a desire to return to the London palace. They want to get it "up and running again" as a working place for Queen Elizabeth, according to the Daily Mail.

However, they could only do so if all the "relevant advice" will permit them. For now, the British Monarch would, reportedly, like to commute from Berkshire to London for her future royal engagements.

The publication added that there are now proposals in line on how the Queen could "safely" attend the events for the upcoming Remembrance Day. Whatever happens, though, many are positive that she will spend the holiday season in Sandringham, as what she always does.

Earlier in May, royal experts discussed Queen Elizabeth's return to Buckingham Palace, according to the Daily Express. The majority of them speculated that she might no longer return to London.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton shared his "fears" that the Queen may never return to doing public engagements in the next few months or years, describing it as "terribly sad." He added that it will be "risky" for the 94-year-old royal to start meeting people in public settings.

Although he shared the same beliefs, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams asserted that the House of Windsor has already proven that they are a "successful Royal Family." He said that the British Royals have continued to "reinvent" themselves, especially amid the pandemic crisis.

Fitzwilliam explained that all the members have "mastered" the use of technology to continue their duties and responsibilities. As recalled, all the senior working royals have resorted to doing virtual engagements since the start of the lockdown.

Previously, several publications revealed that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are expecting to reunite with some members of the British Royal Family during their stay in Balmoral Castle. Sources said that the Wessex household has already visited the royal couple last week. Some of the royals who will, reportedly, visit the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh include the York household, Prince Charles, and the Cambridges.
