Prince Harry is no longer a working royal after he and Meghan Markle officially stepped down from their senior royal roles at the end of March. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are, currently, residing in Los Angeles, where they are making a fresh start.
For Meghan Markle, she’s starting her new life outside the Royal family by being more vocal. However, experts have warned that Prince Harry will likely step away from serious subjects, such as politics.
Traditionally, the Royal Family members are not supposed to voice their opinions on politics as they are expected to remain neutral on the matter. Prince Harry has been pretty quiet about politics, and he is believed to stay that way despite Meghan Markle’s vow to be more vocal after royal exit.
A source told the Telegraph that Prince Harry would not publicly join Meghan Markle’s political efforts because it would not be “appropriate” due to convention. The Duchess of Sussex, on the other hand, is ready to be heard.
Meghan Markle was an actress, activist, and public speaker way before she met and married Prince Harry in 2018. But, when the Duchess of Sussex joined the Royal Family, she had to follow a politically neutral royal role.
Now that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior royal roles, she vowed during her latest appearance at a virtual gender and politics summit to become more vocal.
"From my standpoint, it’s not new to see this undercurrent of racism and certainly unconscious bias, but I think to see the changes that are being made right now is really — it’s something I look forward to being a part of. And being part of using my voice in a way that I haven’t been able to of late,” she said.
Meghan Markle, also, plans to use her voice to the upcoming U.S. election. She is among the 100 high-profile women who shared that they will vote this November.
The Duchess of Sussex told Marie Claire that she knows what it feels like to have a voice and to be voiceless. She, then, noted that she chose to be heard and urged everyone else to vote as well.
It was even claimed that Meghan Markle got her eyes on the U.S. Presidency. Royal author Lady Colin Campbell said that the Duchess of Sussex plans to move into the White House.
