Kang Ha Neul and Son Ye Jin are in talks to follow up on the success of When the Camellia Blooms and Crash Landing on You with a period drama.
According to a report by AllKpop, Kang Ha Neul and Son Ye Jin are considering the lead roles in the drama, Pyeonggang, Cut to the Heart.
Kang Ha Neul's agency confirmed that the actor received the offer and said that he is reviewing it, along with several other potential roles.
Son Ye Jin was, also, confirmed to receive the offer. Her agency said that the actress is reviewing it along with several other offers.
Son Ye Jin was, reportedly, offered the role of Princess Pyeonggang, the youngest daughter of King Pyeongwon of Goguryeo. He ruled his kingdom during the sixth century, CheckIn reported.
Kang Ha Neul was offered the role of On Dal, commonly known to Koreans as On Dal the Fool. Based on the popular folktale, On Dal was used by the princess to make many foolish sacrifices.
Based on the tale, the princess married On Dal, who was a lowly beggar when they met. He later rose to become a great military general. On Dal was instrumental in the expansion of the Goguryeo territory.
While it has not been confirmed whether the two actors will star together in the period drama, Yoon Sang Ho, the director of Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny has signed on to helm the project.
It can be recalled that after receiving the trophy for Best Actor in a Drama for the recently concluded Baeksang Art Awards, Kang Ha Neul agreed to take on a special role in Park Seo Joon and IU's upcoming movie, Dream.
This will be a reunion of sorts for the three actors who previously worked on different projects together. Kang Ha Neul worked with IU on Scarlet Heart Ryeo and starred with Park Seo Joon in the action-comedy Midnight Runners.
Because of his good relationship with IU and PARK Seo Joon, Kang Ha Neu, reportedly, agreed to do the appearance for free.
Meanwhile, Seo Ye Jin is working out the details of her participation in the Hollywood movie Cross, opposite Avatar star Sam Worthington.
The film revolves around a dystopian society wherein a border divides the wealthy from the poor. Son Ye Jin will play a widow whose husband died when he tried to escape the border. Sam Worthington is slated to play a character who resides on the wealthy side of the border, Soompi reported.
