Yellowstone season 4 is, officially, happening on Paramount Network. So, there's no need to worry about its future. The series was renewed for a fourth installment back in February 2020, ahead of the premiere of the third season. Another good news is that there won't be too much delay in terms of production.
Yellowstone season 4 is, reportedly, in the process of kicking things off in Montana. The series films far in advance to take advantage of the nicer weather. Even though the work is starting up, there are still other concerns along the way.
The current global health crisis is the biggest filming challenge here. For instance, everyone should comply with the health measures implemented in the area. In addition, cast and crew need to follow proper social distancing measures to ensure their safety on the set.
But for Kevin Costner, who plays John Dutton, the biggest filming challenge for him is the lengthy amount of time away from his family. Speaking to Good Housekeeping, the actor said the current state of the world made it impossible for him to go back home frequently.
Costner said the global health crisis puts him away from home. He revealed that he goes home every moment he can, but that won't be possible this year. Since they're exclusively filming in Montana, it's difficult for him to go home even if he wanted to.
The actor explained that dealing with two airplanes means an all-day trip. If he travels all-day home, he needs to travel all-day back, as well. The good thing is that the series is not an all-year job as it only films 10 episodes each season. Hence, the time for Costner away from home won't be extensive.
Meanwhile, his character's fate in Yellowstone season 4 is hanging up in the air at the moment. John's life is on the line after being riddled with bullets at the end of season 3. But, he will likely make it out alive since Costner is the forefront of the series.
Aside from John, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) are, also, in grave danger. The former's office exploded while she was there and the latter was left in a precarious situation. The biggest question entering Yellowstone season 4 is: who's responsible for these attacks?
There are certain candidates, including Roarke (Josh Holloway). He is capable of hiring men to destroy the Duttons and get the ranch all for himself. Meanwhile, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) is another candidate since he's been through a lot this season. He found out John is not his real father and he's adopted. These revelations likely triggered him to do something bad.
Yellowstone season 4 is expected to premiere in 2021.
