Not all PS5 fans would get Sony's next-generation gaming console at the same time, according to a new report. Initially, fans believed that the PS5 would have a simultaneous global release. If the recent claim is to go by, it looks like some fans would receive the gaming system ahead or later than others.

Reddit user Kgarvey shared an interesting discovery he found at the official website of "Call of Duty: Black ops Cold War." the site reportedly implies that Sony's PS5 would release later in regions outside of the U.S. and Canada. The site states that the PS5 version of the upcoming game is scheduled for release in Holiday 2020 in Canada and the U.S. while the rest of the world would receive it in the late part of the year.

Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan previously said that the PS5 would release simultaneously all over the world. The latest information shared on Reddit while disappointing if true, is quite reassuring. It simply proves that the PS5 is still releasing this year and would not be delayed until 2021.

It is possible that the information on the official site of "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" might be referring to the PS5 version of the game and not the console itself. The upcoming shooter game is set to arrive in November, which aligns with the release window of Xbox Series X.

In other PS5 news, Sony's next-gen console is now up for pre-orders. The Japanese gaming giant also launched the direct PS5 Pre-order program. This initiative bypasses the usual retail channels.

The company is now sending emails to select prospective PS5 buyers through the address registered in the PSN. The email contains the necessary details on the exact time window the recipient could place an order. It is not clear how Sony chooses these gamers.

However, it is clear that it is only open to those who have a PSN account. Others who were not able to receive the email for the Direct PS5 Pre-order program could still reserve the PS5. Sony launched the official pre-order site of the next-gen gaming console recently.

Interested buyers simply have to key in their PlayStation ID. All PSN IDs are eligible for the latest Direct PS5 Pre-order program. However, Sony mentioned that it would only be available to U.S. residents and addresses at the moment. The company has not yet confirmed if a similar campaign would be available in other regions outside the U.S.
