Queen Elizabeth has been the monarch for close to 70 years but there's still something new and interesting to discover about her. Former royal chef Darren McGrady, recently, dished that Her Majesty apparently likes to eat homemade burgers without the bun.

McGrady said that Queen Elizabeth doesn't go for fast food hamburgers despite owning a McDonald's outlet in Oxfordshire. The kind of burgers she prefers comes from her own backyard.

She likes the beef or venison that comes from her estate, which have been hunted by other members of the royal family or their staff. McGrady said that they would grind the meat and prepare the stuffing or the cranberry sauce. Then, Queen Elizabeth and the royal family would eat the burgers with a fork and knife. Apparently, there aren't any burger buns in the royal family kitchen.

The former royal chef, also, shared that Queen Elizabeth is not foodie and won't care if they prepared a simple dish or a five-course opulent meal. If there are no special dinners with dignitaries or if she's eating by herself, the monarch can, apparently, be satiated with a simple grilled fish, vegetables and salad. She doesn't usually like anything with starch.

McGrady said that the monarch is a disciplined eater, which is probably why she's still in the pink of health at 94 years old. However, this also meant that provisions in the kitchen aren't a priority.

When McGrady arrived to work in the Palace, the kitchen staff was still using pots and pans from the 1800s. Apparently, Queen Elizabeth would rather spend on her horses and dogs than food.

But, there's one thing the monarch, apparently, can't resist and it is dark chocolate. The former royal chef said that Queen Elizabeth is a chocoholic but she always prefers dark over milk or white chocolate.

Her husband, Prince Philip, loves food and loves to prepare his own meals. However, he is, also, into eating healthy because of his background and training as serviceman. Prince Charles, on the other hand, prefers organic ingredients and has been going organic even before this lifestyle became a trend.

The one thing most people don't know about Queen Elizabeth is that, while she's used to eating using silver knives and forks, there are also days when she enjoys having lunch from a Tupperware on the hills of Balmoral. McGrady said that the royal family is just like any other family on some days.
