Chelsea FC has been busy taking in a lot of big names but one area that Frank Lampard has yet to resolve is goalkeeping. Despite having Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero, the Blues coach is far from content with the talent he has right now.

Several names have been linked to the Blues such as Dean Henderson and Jan Oblak. But with the massive spending that Chelsea has been doing now, the need to look for a cost-efficient goalkeeper is a need. That guy appears to be Edouard Mendy of Stade Rennais FC.

The Blues' interest in Mendy is nothing new. They have submitted several offers in the past which Rennes thumbed down. The last one was a $20 million offer that was still rejected by The Rennais. Regardless, Chelsea has not given up the chase and is reportedly set to make another offer for the 28-year-old goalie.

The latest offer that the Blues plan to pitch is higher. Chelsea is reportedly ready to spend as much as $33 million for the French shot-stopper and it will be interesting if this could finally pique the interest of Rennes, Goal reported.

Rennes is not to keen on dealing away Mendy after a fine showing last season. He was one of the reasons why The Red and Blacks qualified for the Champions League for the first time last season. That run ended in a third-place finish in Ligue 1.

So even with a bigger offer, there is still no guarantee that Rennes will agree to a deal. Hence, the best Lampard can do right now is skim the market further for other goalkeepers who can do better than what Kepa and Caballero have done so far.

Chelsea did sign a young goalkeeper in Teddy Sharman-Lowe recently. However, the 17-year-old shot-stopper will continue to play for Burton Albion for now. Sharman-Lowe is not seen as an immediate problem for Lampard's goalkeeping woes. Rather, he is seen as an investment of the future with the Blues likely to recall him once the time is right.

"I’m excited to be joining such a great club, especially as they are known for bringing on young players," Sharman-Lowe said via Burton's official website.

One player that Lampard may look into is Andrei Ionut Radu of Inter Milan. Though he is not hyped compared to the targets the Blues have on their list, he is an intriguing option. He may lack the height but is considered one of the top keepers for Europe in the future, Fansided reported.
