This Is Us season 5 is slated to premiere in November on NBC. However, filming for the fifth installment isn't underway at the moment. Cast and crew weren't able to start working immediately due to the current global health crisis. But, now, it seems like production could be kicking off soon.
Deadline reported that filming for This Is Us season 5 could start on Thursday, Sept. 24. If this schedule will be followed, we could, indeed, expect the new season arriving in November. But, there are other factors that needed to be considered before everyone resumes working.
CarterMatt noted that this is just a tentative start date. It can still be changed depending on the current situation. Cast and crew need to comply with certain health guidelines and protocols to ensure their safety while working amid the pandemic.
This Is Us season 5 might be different from the previous seasons, as well. For instance, some scenes might be reduced in order to follow the proper social distancing measures. In addition, there could be fewer people on set and all of them must be wearing masks.
Aside from dealing with the current global health crisis, the new installment could also tell a story about it. Previously, executive producer Dan Fogelman confirmed on Twitter that they are planning to address the pandemic and writers have decided to "attack things head on."
As for what other stories are coming, This Is Us season 5 will continue to follow Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) and Randall Pearson's (Sterling K. Brown) feud. Fans have seen these two not on talking terms in the previous season and it remains to be seen whether or not they'll reconcile moving forward.
They have been through a lot and their current situation suggests that their relationship will be tainted forever. In fact, Brown told Deadline that Randall and Kevin's relationship has been complicated from the start and they'll continue like a "yo-yo" as the story progresses.
Randall and Kevin remain at odds in the upcoming installment even though they could put aside their differences because of other things at some point. They have said a lot of hurtful words toward each other, making their situation even more complicated.
This Is Us season 5 won't be premiering with everyone being peaceful and getting along. There are a lot of complications because of what happened between Randall and Kevin. The people around them are affected by their on-going feud, as well.
