Many netizens across the world remembered the death anniversary of Princess Diana last August 31. Several of them took the time to pay respects and tributes on various social media platforms on that day.

While the tributes continued to shower, the late Princess's brother, Charles Spencer, posted a photo to commemorate the event.

Following the posts, royal commentators recalled the Earl's eulogy during his sister's wake in 1997. In an episode of the Royally Obsessed podcast, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito claimed that Spencer delivered a "scathing attack" to the British Royal Family, according to the Daily Express.

In his speech, Princess Diana's brother said that his sister needed no royal titles to "continue" generating her "brand of magic." He added that this became apparent following the divorce of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The royal commentators said that this sparked anger among British Royals, especially the Queen. They claimed that the Earl implied that the late Princess did not need the royals as she was "amazing in her own right." Fiorito and Bowie, later on, conceded that the speech was, indeed, an attack toward the British Royal Family.

Princess Diana died due to a tragic car crash in France. Following her death, Charles Spencer, reportedly, shared a "pledge" to Prince Harry and Prince William, stating that the Spencer family will do everything to love them in a way that was different from the British Royal Family.

He claimed that their royal lifestyle was "steering" them away from this kind of love. The Earl, then, said that this will help the young royal-born Princes' souls be not immersed only in "duty and tradition."

Charles Spencer posted a photo of the Spencer Family's flag, "lowered to half-mast" on the 23rd death anniversary of Princess Diana. He captioned the photo with "never forgotten." He, also, revealed that this is his "first family duty" every August 31.

Several netizens "liked" the post and shared their respective experiences and memories of the late Princess. Some declared their undying adoration for the Princess of Wales, noting that the public has always missed her. As for others, they posted a few photos, as well, of Princess Diana, with captions saying that she had "class," "grace," and "compassion."

Meanwhile, other social media users shared their sadness that the princess is no longer around. Some even recalled how they felt upon learning her death 23 years ago.
