The U.S. presidential election is 55 days away. While Donald and Ivanka Trump continued to campaign Melania Trump skipped it to visit a hospital.

It wasn't for the pandemic crisis, either. The first lady flew to New Hampshire to continue her work for the East Wing's initiative, Be Best.

As part of the National Recovery Month, the president's wife went to Concord Hospital in the state to "highlight" one of the infant-centered programs in the facility, according to CBSN Boston. She visited the treatment program for infants born with neonatal abstinence syndrome.

The publication said neonatal abstinence syndrome occurred as a result of complications a newborn baby experiences following exposure to opioids during pregnancy. Fighting addiction, specifically to opioids, is one of the three pillars of Be Best.

Melania Trump held a roundtable discussion, as well, during the visit. She spearheaded the talk, alongside director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy Jim Carroll.

The first lady said National Recovery Month was a time to "celebrate" the people who have "embraced sobriety." She also included those who have welcomed the "positive impact of a drug-free life."

Melania Trump "singled out" the volunteers and staff at the hospital for their commitment and hard work. She met with a family that has completed the neonatal abstinence syndrome program.

Melania Trump made an "unscheduled stop" at the Central Fire Station in Manchester, according to the Daily Mail. She first came to see the facility with her husband in 2018.

Reports said it was a "safe station" because it offered help to people struggling with addiction. This comes after New Hampshire has obtained the highest number of overdose deaths from opioids across the U.S.

The first couple went to the station two years ago to discuss the crisis. This year, however, the first lady shared her thanks and gratitude with firefighters. She, also, encouraged them to "stay safe" during the pandemic.

Melania Trump was unable to visit other parts of the facilities because of COVID-19 restrictions. She wore a face mask with her dark brown Elie Tahari coat. She completed the look with a pair of light brown pants and a pair of her signature high heels.
