NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 is in production at the moment. The series is slated to return later this fall on CBS. A lot of stories are coming for different characters, including Marty Deeks (Christian Eric Olsen), once it arrives. There's a question regarding his future, especially when it comes to his professional life.

Deeks' job might be in jeopardy entering NCIS: Los Angeles season 12. This is something that executive producer R. Scott Gemmill has hinted. Speaking to TVLine, he teased that the character's job as an LAPD liaison might be in question because of the police reform.

Gemmill added that this problem, combined with issues at the bar and his relationship with Kensi (Daniela Ruah), pushes him to face a major decision. There could be some changes in his storylines because of the current happenings.

While Deeks' relationship with Kensi is one of the most interesting parts of the series, other aspects of his life are worth exploring. The upcoming installment could use some timely topics to make the character's storyline even more interesting.

This is a way for NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 to bring the real-life events in the story, as well. In addition, it raises a question on whether or not Deeks loses his job. Until now, there's no clear indication that he could land a proper job at the department.

Deeks has been part of the series for quite a while now, but only partially connected to Kensi, Sam (LL Cool J), Callen's (Chris O'Donnell) agency. We've seen him doing just a little bit of his work at the LAPD over the past few seasons. This situation could change in the upcoming installment.

Meanwhile, Olsen has already returned on the set and currently filming NCIS: Los Angeles season 12. That means that we're going to see Deeks coming up early on. However, it should also be noted that the actor may not be part of every episode in the upcoming installment.

Aside from being an actor, Olsen is a producer, as well. In fact, he serves as one of the executive producers for Hulu's new series, Woke. Thus, there is a possibility he'll have fewer appearances in the new season to balance his schedule.

Nothing is confirmed when it comes to the official release date of NCIS: Los Angeles season 12. But, since production has kicked off already, it's very likely the series will return in the fall. Some reports suggest it could arrive at some point in November.
