Melania Trump joined Donald Trump as he named his nominee for Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement on Saturday. The First Couple stood inside the White House as they welcomed Amy Coney Barrett to take the seat in the supreme court.

Instead of her usual fashion choices, the First Lady wore a black attire for the special occasion, according to the Daily Express. She "shunned" her conventional white and beige pieces, adding that she likely preferred her black skirt and top "as a mark of respect" to the late Justice.

Melania Trump went for a "simple" black pencil skirt based on the clips and photos. She partnered the look with a wrap jacket and a skinny belt, all of the same black color.

The First Lady complemented her attire with a pair of black stilettos. As for her hairstyle, she donned her hair in a simple straight style, which she seemingly allowed to sit over her shoulders.

Meanwhile, the U.S. President's pick for the seat, Amy Coney Barrett chose to wear a dark brown dress for the event. Donald Trump donned a blue and red stripe tie with his "deep navy suit."

During the White House event, Melania Trump, reportedly, sat beside Barrett's family. The public, however, did not see the First Couple's son on the engagement, and neither was Ivanka Trump.

Reports said that it was "unusual" considering that the First Daughter typically stands beside her father on important events like this. The same publication claimed, though, that the First Lady did not likely mind her absence because of the alleged "rivalry" between them.

Judi James previously told the same publication that the two female Trumps' body languages seemingly portray a tension-filled relationship. She argued, however, that this might, also, mean other things, like a daughter's admiration for a mother.

The body language expert's claim may be true. But, Melania Trump's self-proclaimed "former best friend" wrote in her book, Melania and Me, that the First Lady's relationship with her step-daughter is far more than "icy." Stephanie Winston Wolkoff said that there is always an apparent rivalry between the two powerful female Trumps, according to People.

The former White House staff detailed the accounts of Melania's "petty" moves against Ivanka. She, also, revealed several details about the First Daughter's "attempts" to take over the First Lady's position inside the White House.

Amid all these, Donald Trump's wife and daughter have never commented about the matter. The East Wing, however, dismissed all of Wolkoff's claims, alongside the book she recently published.
