Power Book II: Ghost episode 5 is coming this weekend on Starz, with the title "The Gift of the Magi." This episode serves as the midseason finale. The cast and crew weren't able to wrap up the entire production as filming was halted earlier this year due to the current global health crisis.
Power Book II: Ghost episode 5 would be the final episode for now. Five more episodes are coming after this one, but they weren't all finished as of yet. While the majority of the season has been filmed, they need to wrap up everything that's left before getting into production of the already-confirmed season 2.
The upcoming episode continues to follow Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.). He's been trying to keep his newly-built operation going. However, there's a lot of danger that comes along with it. Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson), in particular, is determined to mine the truth about everything.
Saxe wants to make sure that he'll get answers regarding James "Ghost" St. Patrick's (Omari Hardwick) death. This is something that would suit him well since it allows him to continue with his job. He's doing whatever he can to take down the family, especially Tariq.
The promo of Power Book II: Ghost episode 5 hints that something unexpected and unbelievable could happen before the series goes on hiatus. CarterMatt also noted that the episode title is a reference to O. Henry's short story of the same name.
The story translates to the world of Power by delivering a message that love is the most valuable thing gift a person can have. Both Tariq and his mother, Tasha St. Patrick (Naturi Naughton), have been making huge sacrifices for each other.
Tariq is doing everything that he can to get his mother out of prison, while Tasha sacrificed her own freedom to cover up the truth that her son killed his father, Ghost. They are trying to protect each other, but they recognize that a lot of hindrances are coming along the way.
In addition to these stories, the episode continues to follow Tariq at the school, as well as his relationship with the Tejada family and Davis MacLean (Method Man). He wants to become a better version of his father, but because of his current situation, he knows that it won't be easy for him.
