Timo Werner arrived at Stamford Bridge with great expectations and Chelsea still chasing a win in the Premier League seemed to add more pressure on the German striker. Werner said he's not exactly happy with the way things are going, and more so as the 24-year-old has yet to find the net in England.

It appears that the Germany international is still finding the form that made him one of the most prolific goalscorers in the Bundesliga last season. Blues boss Frank Lampard has been playing Werner in the past games but the forward is still looking to score his first goal.

It's the same case with Chelsea. The 3-3 draw against West Brom on Saturday indicated Werner's side nearly suffered their second consecutive defeat in the competition had the Blues did not mount a comeback in the second half, thanks to the heroics of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

It was a close call and Chelsea came out of the match with just a point, and Werner admitted he was far from satisfied he lauded the Blues for not giving up even when it looked like that defeat was certain.

"We never give up Chelsea! Absolutely unhappy with our performance but great fighting spirit," Metro reported the Chelsea star's Instagram post as saying.

And Mount agreed that his team could have played better and lived up to the expectations generated by Chelsea's busy summer signing that saw Lampard bringing in top-notch players such as Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and Kai Havertz.

Mount, however, stressed that character allowed the Blues to fend off the threat of defeat.

Lampard himself affirmed that his squad played below par in the Saturday match but composure fueled the will to stave off a back-to-back disappointment. Had the team performed in the manner they trained, the boss said things would have been a lot easier.

"I can laud character because we showed character and persistence, but we didn't need to if we did things properly in the game," the Mirror reported the Chelsea manager as saying.

He added that the fact that his players conjured up the motivation to fight back after the halftime break was a reason to be happy. But Lampard warned there is no reason to celebrate on the draw match.

The game with West Brom pointed to the truth that Chelsea's defense is littered with holes. Lampard said his side conceding three goals in the first half is something to worry about, and on this, reports are saying that Lampard will address this by pushing hard on the signing of West Ham defender Declan Rice.

Chelsea will play next in the Carabao Cup, facing off with their London neighbors Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.
