Force Touch is no longer available in Apple Watches after the watchOS 7 update though you should know Apple made it better for you.

The release of the watchOS 7 update brought about a plethora of new features to compatible Apple Watch models. These include sleep tracking and a host of new watch faces, though the update also removed the Force Touch feature that many users consider as a second nature interaction.

There are some Apple Watch owners who press their watch screens whenever they want a particular function. Force Touch technology senses the extra pressure on the screen and would accordingly display more controls and content depending on the context. With the watchOS 7 update, Apple got rid of all Force Touch interactions from the user interface (UI), rendering Apple Watch Series 5's, and those on earlier models', Force Touch sensor gasket effectively unnecessary.

Users need not fret, however, as Apple made sure to replace the Force Touch feature with a much better alternative. If you are an Apple Watch owner, you might want to learn some of these new functions after updating to watchOS 7.

In the past, clearing all notifications on the Apple Watch requires you to Force Touch the UI and then tap on the subsequent alert window. With the watchOS 7 update, you only have to swipe down to go to the top of the notifications and then you can tap the Clear All button.

Creating and removing watch faces with Force Touch technology also involves pressing on the display to open the Apple Watch Photos app, and then selecting a photo. After updating to watchOS 7, you only need to tap the Create Watch Face icon found in the bottom-left corner of your watch screen and then you can choose Kaleidoscope or Photos.

While not many people would want to write a message using their Apple Watches, there are those who sometimes do this. If you are one of them, you may have used the Force Touch feature within the Mail and Messages apps to compose a new message. This is no longer possible after the watchOS 7 update, though it is still possible to compose a new message on your watch. You only need to swipe down to show the New Message button at the top of the messages list.

Try exploring your Apple Watch to see the host of new functions that replaced the Force Touch gestures. Apple did not provide any explanation as to why the company removed the firm-press gesture in watchOS 7, though some say that it might be because only a few users know about it in the first place. If only a few people are aware of such a feature, then it might not be that useful after all.
