HBO announced the coming of Game of Thrones prequel, titled House of Dragon, a year after the original show ended. With the cancellation of Naomi Watt's supposed prequel, The Long Night, will the new one finally push through?
House of Dragon is set to be out in 2022. TeCake noted HBO President Casey Bloys revealed the casting call had already started, although it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The network was looking for an actor who would play as Daemon. It should be a guy about 40 to 50 years old.
Daemon is the younger brother of King Viserys. Unlike other characters who are dying to have the throne, Daemon has no ambition to be the king despite being in line.
He is disorganized and impulsive, but he yearns to be loved and accepted by his brother. Daemon only finds joy at "sword-point. Although he is the most experienced warrior of his time, he is either vile or heroic, making him the real villain of the series.
According to Screen Rant, HBO ordered ten episodes for House of the Dragon last year. The Game of Thrones veteran Miguel Sapochnik, who will also be one of the showrunners, is set to direct its pilot episode.
Inspired by Martin's 2018 novel, Fire & Blood, it will tell the story of House Targaryen. But, as the book covers several years and monarchs, it remains to be seen what storyline it will mostly focus on.
Wiki of Thrones noted the prequel might center around The Dance of the Dragons, a civil war that occurred 170 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Will this show see the light of the day in 2022?
Take if from Watts' supposed Game of Thrones prequel. The show went as far as filming the pilot episode last year.
Despite the production's start, HBO still canceled the show even before it came to full fruition. In fact, it stopped ordering more episodes.
With the tentative title of The Long Night, it was supposed to delve into the deep history of Westeros and Essos. It was also set to explore the origins of the White Walkers.
In an interview with Collider, Watts revealed she still couldn't talk about the supposed prequel's details. She couldn't even tell her time on set, although she was eager to share some behind-the-scenes memories.
If Watts would share anything about the Game of Thrones prequel, she knew she would be in trouble.
