At the moment, there is no official confirmation that Prison Break season 6 is happening. Despite that, fans were hoping that the popular Fox drama is coming back after rumors emerged that the plan for a revival is still on the cards. For now, here's what we know so far about the potential installment.

In January 2018, Fox confirmed that Prison Break season 6 is in development. However, the network revealed in August 2019 that they have no current plans to revive the series. Hence, the future of the show is hanging up in the air at the moment.

The series is one of the most popular shows on Fox, airing from 2005 until 2009. In January 2016, it was announced that season 5 is happening and it will consist of nine episodes. The revival aired in April 2017 and concluded in May of the same year.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding Prison Break season 6, most fans were hoping it could happen at some point on Fox. After all, there have been hints over the past few months that the revival will push through. For instance, series star Sarah Wayne Callies teased something on her Instagram account.

In May 2020, Callies shared a photo of her character Sara Scofield with Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) and a newborn baby. The image comes with the caption "Happy Sunday." Although it's unclear what it means for the future of the series, a lot of fans got excited about it.

This isn't also the first hint from series stars about the Prison Break season 6. In November 2019, Dominic Purcell, who plays Lincoln Burrows, shared a photo on his Instagram of his character. He wrote in the caption that they're moving pieces together and used the hashtag #PrisonBreak6.

In April 2020, Purcell also hinted that they're all in agreement that if the story is worthy, then it will get made. The actor added that he won't make any comments about the Prison Break season 6 unless its time. Thus, even without an official announcement, this is a clear indication that the revival is happening.

Prison Break tells a story of two brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. The latter has been sentenced to death for the crime he didn't commit. So, Michael devised an elaborate plan in order to help his brother escape the prison and clear his name.

All five seasons of the series are currently available to stream on Netflix.
