BLACKPINK just released its music video for “Lovesick Girls,” which is the title track of Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa’s THE ALBUM. As expected, the MV quickly garnered a lot of attention and has reached over 100million views on YouTube, three days after its release.

While “Lovesick Girls” is not the typical beat that BLACKPINK chooses for their title track, many believe that they opted for it to shut their haters up. Critics have been saying that Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa’s songs before this album were nothing but empty drops. “Lovesick Girls” is totally different compared to their other popular songs when it comes to beat and vibe.

But, the beat is not what BLACKPINK needs to worry about this time. The group received backlash over Jennie’s outfit in the “Lovesick Girls” music video. The 24-year-old singer and rapper wore a nurse outfit in one of the scenes, which angered the Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union.

They claimed that BLACKPINK is sexualizing the portrayal of nurses in their “Lovesick Girls” music video. The Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union said that nurses have been trying for a long time to fight against this sexual objectification and a derogatory portrayal of their profession.

One scene of the “Lovesick Girls” music video showed Jennie wearing a nurse costume, which the Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union said is “far from realistic.” The BLACKPINK singer can be seen sporting a tight-fit white mini dress in the MV, with full makeup and messy hair.

Having a nurse character in the music video makes sense because the storyline is about Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa going crazy about love, and some women in this situation usually end up in the hospital. However, what the Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union did not appreciate is how the outfit looked like.

They also noted that given the popularity of BLACKPINK and the instant success of “Lovesick Girls,” many would see Jennie’s sexy nurse outfit. The Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union then urged YG Entertainment to use their popularity and influence to correct the matter. “This situation gets worse the more pop culture repeats its distorted image of nurses,” they said.

YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK have yet to address this issue.

It is worth noting that Jennie is not the only celebrity who wore a sexy nurse outfit in a music video or appearances. Unfortunately, the sexy nurse outfit had been a favorite choice even for Halloween. This idea is something that the Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union is hoping to stop as soon as possible.
