It has been teased in the past that Transformers 7 is coming on the big screen at some point. However, fans may need to wait for a little while since the movie is not coming anytime soon in theaters. For now, here's what we know so far about the seventh installment of the franchise.
During the recent Festival of Licensing 2020 Virtual event, President of Branded Entertainment for Hasbro & eOne Samantha Lomow revealed their plans for the second chapter of Netflix's Transformers: War For Cybertron, as well as the movie Transformers 7.
Lomow said that they will continue to deliver expansive stories within the world of Transformers. She teased that fans will see the second chapter of Transformers: War For Cybertron, which debuted in July, is coming on Netflix "very, very soon."
Lomow, then, discussed their future plans for Transformers 7. She revealed that the movie is in deep development along with their partners at Paramount. The seventh installment of the live-action movie is slated for a 2022 summer release schedule. The movie will bring new action-packed high adventures.
Previous reports claimed that Transformers 7 could hit theaters on June 24, 2022. However, there is no official confirmation that this premiere date will be followed. A lot of works are needed to be done behind-the-scenes, including the use of huge bots and CGIs.
In addition, production should have a definite start date. But, considering the current global health crisis, filming for the latest movie may not start immediately. Since the release date isn't set anytime soon, production could begin either in late 2020 or mid-2021.
As for what stories are coming in the seventh installment, viewers could see more vehicles changing into bots. Also, screenwriters Joby Harold and James Vanderbilt have, reportedly, written individual scripts to take on the latest movie.
Moreover, the upcoming installment could feature the return of the popular alien robots, who managed to destroy humanity with the horrific battle. It's interesting to see how the fan-favorite bots take on the new threats in the new movie.
Meanwhile, the official cast list of Transformers 7 wasn't revealed as of this writing. The cast member might be announced when the film is nearing its production. There's also speculation that there won't be too many new faces, as the old ones are set to return. Some of the past cast members include Rachael Taylor, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, as well as Shia LaBeouf.
