The virus has infected people of all ages and social status but there have been some significant recovery stories among celebrities.

Michael Rooker

"Guardians of the Galaxy" star Michael Rooker took to Instagram earlier last month to share news of his recovery from COVID-19.

"So, Just so y'all know the End result of all those daily battles has come to an end," Rooker wrote. He added that while the virus "put up a pretty good fight," he had finally "won the WAR!"

Rooker's return as Yondu in the film series has yet to be confirmed but he is expected to appear in "The Suicide Squad" as Savant.

Jillian Michaels

The former "Biggest Loser" star Jillian Michaels revealed last month she tested positive for COVID-19 but has since recovered.

Michaels said she contracted the virus after hanging out with friends "for an hour." She said she "let my guard down" but is "fortunate" that she was generally healthy when she was infected.

The celebrity fitness trainer went on to warn people to avoid visiting gyms during the pandemic. Michaels' warning was made at around the same time many states in the U.S. started reopening gyms.

Giuliana Rancic

A little more than two weeks after host Giuliana Rancic revealed she and her family tested COVID-19 positive she reported she's now "feeling good."

Rancic said her entire family was now back to its daily routine following their home quarantine. In her message she thanked those who had wished them a speedy recovery.

Rancic was supposed to host the Live from the Red Carpet: The 2020 Emmy Awards special in September but COVID-19 stopped her. At the time of her diagnosis, Rancic said she was thankful for having been informed about her positive test before traveling.

Vivica A. Fox

Rancic's joint host at the E! show in September, Vivica A. Fox, said in mid-September that despite pulling out of her scheduled gig after contracting the novel coronavirus she had since tested negative.

Fox's diagnosis was a topic of debate among experts owing to the first result of her self-administered test coming back positive and the second, which was conducted by a medical professional, negative.

There were talks that the first test must have been a false positive, raising concerns about the accuracy of self-administered tests and whether these are suitable.

Fox and Rancic's cases were not related as the two were in different states in the country when they tested positive.

Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City defender Riyad Mahrez contracted COVID-19 earlier last month but has since recovered and returned to the field.

Mahrez's diagnosis started talk of the league's cancellation should a second wave of infections be reported in the coming weeks. Other Manchester players have also tested positive - including Ilkay Gundogan and Aymeric Laporte.

Despite having fully recovered, Mahrez admitted that the upcoming Premier League games would be difficult without his teammates who are either in isolation or still recovering from earlier injuries.

Usain Bolt

On Aug. 24, the Jamaica government confirmed that Olympic legend Usain Bolt had tested positive. He is currently in isolation and recovering.

There has been no update but Bolt's name has been in the news following the declaration of Jamaica's Minister of Health Christopher Tufton that there would be no special treatment in the investigation of Bolt.

Bolt was given a birthday party in August, with reports alleging the sprinter and partygoers in the event breached anticoronavirus regulations. An investigation is underway.
