Playing on his last season with Manchester United, Paul Pogba admitted the thought of playing for Real Madrid still crosses his mind. The Frenchman said wearing a Los Blancos shirt someday would be a dream come true for him but insisted he is playing his best for the Red Devils at the moment.

Currently on international duty for France, Pogba talked about playing for a different side and he pointed to the La Liga giants as an easy choice. The midfielder said all players dreamed of a stint at the Santiago Bernabeu and he is no different.

"All footballers would love to play for Real Madrid. It might be a dream ... It is a dream for me, why not one day? But I play for Manchester United and I love my club," Goal reported Pogba as saying.

The World Cup winner added he is not distracted by plans for the distant future. He insisted the focus is to play in his best form and help United win titles and honors.

The Frenchman, however, is again the subject of scrutiny as the Red Devils stumbled to a slow start in the Premier League. The club absorbed two losses in three games and the recent 6-1 defeat against Tottenham only highlighted the squad's continuing struggles with Pogba hardly making an impact in the matches played so far.

The poor run in form resurrected anew speculations that Pogba is in his last few months at Old Trafford. The star has yet to sign a new deal with United and rumors persist he is likely to transfer when the opportunity permits. The landing spot is thought to be Juventus or Real as Zinedine Zidane is believed still bent on signing the 27-year-old.

In line with these transfer talks, journalist Fabrizio Romano said Pogba would have been back in Italy had the COVID-19 pandemic did not happen. Before the outbreak, Romano claimed Pogba's jump to Juventus was already set.

"If there was no coronavirus, Paul Pogba today would've been playing for Juventus. Juve were ready to make an important bid for Pogba but with the financial crisis it was impossible," Talk Sport reported the Italian as saying.

The claim will likely remind United fans of the numerous attempts made by Pogba in the last two summers to switch sides. He either wanted a reunion with the Old Lady or head to Spain to play under Zidane. None of the deals materialize, however, and the financial difficulties caused by the pandemic made it even more impossible for Pogba to leave given the prevailing market situation.

But the summer of 2021 could be a different story for the restless United man. Pogba confirmed there is no extension offer yet from his club, which indicates that by season's end, an exit from Old Trafford could be in the options for him.
