It looks like Peter Parker will finally get an important ally in Spider-Man 3. It has been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.

There have been several speculations about who will appear in Spider-Man 3. Fans have been hoping that Peter Parker will actually get some help from his fellow Avengers after his identity was revealed in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is a truly dangerous situation for the webslinger. Luckily, it has been confirmed that Peter will be getting some help from the Sorcerer Supreme in the third Spider-Man flick.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch is joining the cast of Spider-Man 3. This will be the first time that the Sherlock actor will be reunited with Tom Hiddleston since Avengers: Endgame where Stephen Strange and Peter Parker returned for the final battle against Thanos. Interestingly, there were some new details about Cumberbatch's role in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

According to the report, Doctor Strange is expected to serve as Peter Parker's new mentor following the demise of Tony Stark aka Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame. This is an interesting role for Stephen Strange considering that he Sorcerer Supreme isn't exactly the father figure type. On the other hand, Benedict Cumberbatch's character did work pretty well with Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War and more interactions between the two characters would be welcome for fans.

Spider-Man 3 isn't the only major Marvel Cinematic Universe film that Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed to work on in the next few months. He is also expected to start shooting for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with Elizabeth Olsen, who will return as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch. However, it is hardly the last project that Cumberbatch is believed to work on soon.

There are speculations that Benedict Cumberbatch will also appear in the Disney+ Loki series will will star Tom Hiddleston as the God of Mischief. Some believe that Doctor Strange could play a huge role in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe show although Cumberbatch's involvement has not yet been confirmed. With that in mind, it is best to take this with a grain of salt.

The still-untitled Spider-Man 3 is already expected to begin filming this month and production is set to continue until February next year. It is then scheduled for release on December 17, 2021.
