It has already been confirmed that Jane Foster will be back in Thor: Love and Thunder and will even become the new God of Thunder. But, with the fourth Thor film actually depict how Jane ends up wielding Mjolnir? Natalie Portman may have dropped some major spoilers about her character's unexpected return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It's no secret that Jane Foster was an important character in the first two Thor movies. However, she somehow disappeared in Thor: Ragnarok where the God of Thunder simply explained that the two had broken up. With that in mind, Jane's return in Thor: Love and Thunder is a welcome one but what are the circumstances of her comeback?

Natalie Portman recently spoke to Yahoo! where she claimed that she couldn't reveal too much about Thor: Love and Thunder other than "I'm really excited" about working on the film. However, the Black Swan star later loosened up a bit and shared some interesting details about Jane Foster's storyline in the fourth Thor movie.

"I'm starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is," Portman said. She then dropped some surprising information about Jane Foster's health condition in the film.

"I'm trying to think - it's based on the graphic novel of The Mighty Thor. She's going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side," Portman stated.

Comic book fans already know about Jane Foster's storyline but it's still a surprise that Natalie Portman confirmed what will happen to her character in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, it would make sense for the movie to adapt Jane's comic book storyline considering that it's one of the best story arcs for a female character in the comics.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Taika Waititi and will also star Chris Hemsworth as the original God of Thunder as well as Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. It was previously confirmed that Christian Bale will be joining the cast and although his character has not yet been revealed, Thompson had confirmed that the Oscar winner will portray the main villain in the sequel.

Interestingly, there have been speculations that Christian Bale will play Dario Agger aka Minotaur in Thor: Love and Thunder but this has not yet been confirmed so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to begin production in early 2021. The film is, then, scheduled for release on February 11, 2022.
