Stargirl season 2 hasn't kicked off production at the moment. The series is not arriving until next year on The CW. Despite the delay, we could expect a lot of stories once it premieres. Some big-name villains are coming and could cause more chaos for the members of the Justice Society of America.

Eclipso is one of the biggest adversaries in Stargirl season 2. He was first referenced by Cindy a.k.a. Shiv (Meg DeLacy) in the season 1 finale and it looks like he was encased with a diamond. Now, the character comes with a specific motive and could emerge shockingly.

In a recent report from Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Geoff Johns discussed during the New York Comic-Con the arrival of Eclipso in the upcoming installment. He said that he's excited for the character to appear and described him as "terrifying."

Johns revealed that he always loved the character. Eclipso is a different villain or antagonist than the Injustice Society of America members. At the moment, they're just starting to cast someone for the role, but they've already got wonderful designs from costume designer L.J. Shannon.

It remains to be seen what Eclipso is going to look like. Yet, Johns teased that the character is a "different, darker, scarier threat." It's interesting to see what he brings on the table and how his arrival could impact Courtney a.k.a. Stargirl (Brec Bassinger).

At the end of the first season, Shiv found a black diamond. Johns explained that this is something that they're going to explore in Stargirl season 2. The thing inside it will, particularly, be the focus. The entity that's trapped here feeds off humanity's own sin, darkness, fear, and grief.

The executive producer further said that Eclipso has been in that black diamond for a very long time and he's aching to do what he does, which is feeding off darkness within humanity. His arrival takes the JSA members and other characters in a place that's tough for them to explore.

In addition to Eclipso, Stargirl season 2 will also introduce another villain: Shade. The character was a bit established in a larger sense back in the first installment. Still, there are a lot of ways in how his story can be further addressed.

A lot of danger is coming for Courtney and the rest moving forward in the second installment. Aside from these two villains, other adversaries could show up and shake up their world. Some might be in danger, but the JSA members will do everything to defeat the evil.

Stargirl season 2 is slated to premiere at some point in 2021.
